Valentine Cards for Gay Men

by JoHarrington

February 14th is when half of the world is telling the other half that they love them. Pick up a same sex Valentine card to do the same!

On February 14th, he'll be expecting a bit of fuss and attention, the more romantic the better. You will gain serious brownie points for exceeding those expectations. Or perhaps he doesn't yet know how you feel about him. This is the best day to tell him.

Number one on your list is grabbing a Valentine Card. You don't have to 'make do' with a mainstream one, designed for a lady to give her man. Gay Valentine's Day cards are out there in abundance.

To help you choose, I've collected together a few which I've discovered on my travels through cyberspace. Hopefully there's the perfect love card here for you.

Tell Him That You Love Him on St Valentine's Day

Have your eyes met over a crowded room? Or do they meet regularly over the pillow each night? Either way, he'll want to hear that you love him today!

February 14th is that great celebration of love and romance, all over the Western world.  Whether you've just got together or been married forever, those whispers of tenderness go on.

Or it may be that he doesn't even know!  You've been plucking up the courage to confess your feelings and ask if maybe, hopefully, he might feel the same.

If there was any day to find out, then it's Valentine's Day.  Relationships forged together is what the holiday was made to accomplish!

Traditionally that's how it's done.  A card with a question mark slipped into his view.  You could fill it with poetry or a long exclamation of your love in prose.  Or you could merely scribble the question, 'Will you go out with me?'

The words are your own, limited only by your imagination.  You know the man.  You know best how he'd like to be told.  Song lyrics?  A profoundly meant 'I love you'?  Or the mystery of knowing that somebody out there has their eye on him, but he doesn't know who?

Write from the heart.  It's the best place from which to pen anything on this day.  But first you need something to write it on.  Let's find the perfect Valentine card for you.

Love Poetry for a Gay Male Valentine's Day Card

The best poetry is that which you write yourself all about the man you love.  It doesn't have to be brilliant.  You don't need to be the poet laureate nor a bard to pen it.  It will be from you to him and that's what matters.

How do you feel?  And can you make that rhyme?

You could always fall in with the masses too, and write something cheesy or cute. The traditional first two lines are already written.  How about something like this:

Roses are red, violets are blue
The man for me looks a lot like you.

Could you do better?  Then do go on!

Famous Gay Love Poetry for Men

You won't be the first person ever to put pen to paper to confess your feelings in same sex love. Let's check out some of the true masters.

Lord Alfred Douglas is better known as Bosie, the boyfriend of Oscar Wilde.  He wrote poetry too.  Though his verses became more infamous than famous in his day.  Nevertheless, Two Loves sings across the ages to now.

And he came near me, with his lips uncurled
And kind, and caught my hand and kissed my mouth,
And gave me grapes to eat, and said, 'Sweet friend,
Come I will show thee shadows of the world
And images of life. See from the South
Comes the pale pageant that hath never an end.'

Could you use that, or some other stanza, to add to your St Valentine's Day card?

Or how about the Song of Songs?  It has that very delicious line, 'Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

Then there are the beautifully romantic words of Walt Whitman, from When I Heard at the Close of Day:

For the one I love most lay sleeping by me under the same cover in the cool night,
In the stillness, in the autumn moonbeams, his face was inclined toward me,
And his arm lay lightly around my breast—and that night I was happy.

Would any of those do for you and your man?  There's plenty more, if you search for it.  Gay Love Poetry might be a good place to begin.

St Valentine's Day Cards to Ask a Gay Man Out

In my opinion either of the gay Valentine's Day cards below would be perfect for sending to the man you fancy.  They each set the stage, in their own way.

All you would need to do is add the words inside.  Go on!  Be bold!  The worst that he could do is say no; and at least you'd know where you stood then.  And consider what the best case scenario would be instead.

You will never know, unless you ask; and life is too short for regrets.

Gay Husband Valentine Day Card

Walking down the aisle was only the beginning of the romance.

Naturally some people have already found, committed and kept their Valentine. No gazing hopefully across a crowded bar for them, they merely have to glance across at the pillow alongside their own in the marital bed.

Here is a classy, but cute Valentine card for a gay husband. Inside the verse reads:

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love my life
Coz I married you

But you can change that via the template to poetry of your own choosing.
