Wenlock Mascot Toys - London 2012 Olympics

by TerriRexson

Wenlock is the mascot for the London 2012 Olympics. Find out all about him and choose your own Wenlock soft toy.

First of all some background about Wenlock, who is this odd-looking little fellow and why is he called Wenlock?

Wenlock is one of the mascots for the London 2012 Olympics (Mandeville is the mascot for the London 2012 Paralympics.)

Wenlock is named after the English village of Much Wenlock in Shropshire. Why? Because Much Wenlock was the location of the Wenlock Olympian Society Annual Games, a predecessor to the Olympic Games we know today.

And how did Wenlock get his looks? He was created as part of the preparations for the London Olympics and is apparently based on a drop of steel.

White & Orange Wenlock Mascot

Here's a cute and cuddly Wenlock in his main colors: white with orange details.

Young and old fans of the Olympics can get their own plush Wenlock to cuddle, cheer and wave with, put on display or keep as a collector's item.  Note the bangles he's wearing on his wrists which are made from the fives colored circles in the Olympic logo.

Who is Wenlock?

Weblock is the London 2012 Olympic Mascot. He came from a drop of molten steel from the last girder in the London Olympic Stadium. As did his friend Mandeville. Watch the video below to see the story of how Wenlock came into being.

Union Jack Wenlock Soft Toy

Or perhaps you'd prefer to see Wenlock in his Union Jack design. Here he is proudly wearing his take on the Union Jack Flag.

This Wenlock is still cute and soft, but he's celebrating the location of the 2012 Olympics in London, UK.

A great choice for anyone who wants to celebrate their British heritage or just celebrate with us.
