The Battle of Helm's Deep - Lego 9474

by TerriRexson

Lego 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep is the biggest set in the first wave of the Lego Lord of the Rings theme in Summer 2012. Recreate the epic battle.

The scene for this set is the epic Battle of Helm's Deep (also known as the Battle of the Hornburg.) in the kingdom of Rohan. Helm's Deep protects the southern route into Rohan, the land of the Rohirrim who are horse people.

The remaining fellowship and their allies defend the Helm's Deep fortress against armies of Uruk-hai. They work with King Théoden of Roham and the Rohirrim to protect his people and land from Saruman.

To really do this scene justice you'll need to add on some extra sets including the Uruk-hai Army, it was a huge battle.

Lego 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep

Lego 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep is the biggest initial set for the 2012 Lego Lord of the Rings theme. It features the fortress which is the location for the epic battle of Helm's Deep.

You also get a selection of minifigures including the Uruk-hai to battle. This set will be popular because of it's size and the importance of this scene. The Battle of Helm's Deep has become a famous battle scene from the Two Towers movie and it will be the movie version that people are reenacting with this set.

Battle of Helm's Deep Contents

This is a large set, at 1368 pieces. The main build is a large section of the castle battlements with a tower an the main fortress gate. This is a big piece of castle!

There's a small catapult up on the battlements. There's an exploding wall that you can break through.

There's lots of detail inside the fortress including a throne with table set for dinner.

The The Horn of Helm Hammerhand is at the top of the tower.

There's also a siege ladder for scaling the walls. And there's a big catapult on wheels.

Which Minifigures are in The Battle of Helm's Deep?

In The Battle of Helm's Deep we get two members of the fellowship: Aragorn and Gimli (they both also appear in other sets.) Gimli has a great plaited beard.

We also get the elf Haldir and Théoden, King of Rohan.

And it wouldn't be The Battle of Helm's Deep without Orcs and lots of them! We get 4  Uruk-hai in this set: the Berserker Uruk-hai and 3 other Uruk-hai.

There's also one of the new horses that can stand up on its hind legs.

Note that the Lego 9471 Uruk-hai Army set is designed as an extension of this one, so you'll find more important characters there (Eomer and a Rohirrim Soldier, plus more Uruk-Hai.)

Disappointingly we don't get Gandalf the White on Shadowfax in this set. Hopefully there will be an add-on set later.
