Lego 9469 Gandalf Arrives is one of the first sets in the new Lego Lord of the Rings theme for 2012. It's the smallest and cheapest of the initial sets.
Lego Gandalf Arrives is the smallest and cheapest set in the Lego Lord of the Rings range.
The set features Gandalf with his horse and cart and Frodo Baggins right at the beginning of his adventure in the Lord of the Rings. This is where it all starts. And look on the back of Gandalf's cart, there will be fireworks.
You can find a fun video that explains the Gandalf Arrives set on the LEGO LOTR minisite.

This set will include Gandalf the Grey and the hobbit Frodo Baggins minifigures. It just wouldn't be Gandalf Arrives any other way! It's going to be interesting to see the size difference between these minifigs - hobbits are much smaller than wizards. In the movie special effects were used to get the relative size of the figures right.
Oh and there's the horse too, to pull Gandalf's cart. No, it's not Gandalf's horse Shadowfax at this point is it? Shadowfax appears later if I have my Lord of the Rings timeline right. The horse is interesting though - it can rear up on its hind legs, which is new.
From Summer 2012 Lego Gandalf arrives is available from the Lego store and other retailers.
Also available at ToysRUs.
Now's a great time to re-read the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, starting with the Fellowship of the Ring.
There's a Kindle Edition available, if like me you are moving away from physical books. (I can't imagine getting rid of my paper copies the the LOTR trilogy though!)
Lego Gandalf Arrives is due for release in June 2012.
Lego Gandalf Arrives Price
Brickipedia reports that Lego Gandalf arrives will have a retail price of $12.99. This will be the smallest and cheapest set in the 2012 Lego Lord of the Rings first wave and will make a great starter set.
The Gandalf Arrives scene is always bitter sweet to me. It's a lovely scene where Gandalf arrives in the shire and is greeted by Frodo Baggins.
It's where we get the famous 'A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.' quote from Gandalf, delivered with faux gravity.
I think the Lego Gandalf Arrives Lego set will give me the same feelings that the movie and book do. A happy scene in Hobbiton, with the lovely things that hobbits enjoy, and a wizard at his most relaxed. But with foreshadowing of what's to come.
My mind races ahead to what I know will come ... Enjoy the moment, I think - both for myself and Gandalf and Frodo.
Before all that nastiness, there are fireworks to be enjoyed! As we all know, Gandalf doesn't arrive in the shire with an empty cart. And his Lego cart is sure to contain fireworks.

I've been rewatching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy movies ready for the new Lord of the Rings Lego. I'd like to find time to re-read the books (I've read them several times but not recently.)
Lego 9473 The Mines of Moria is one of the larger sets in the Lego Lord of the Rings range for 2012. It's an important one for LOTR minifigures too.
Lego 9476 The Orc Forge features Saruman's Orcs of Mordor building weapons underground at Isengard. It's one of the medium-sized 2012 LOTR sets.
Lego 9472 Attack on Weathertop is one of the medium-sized sets in the first wave of Lord of the Rings Lego for 2012.
Lego 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep is the biggest set in the first wave of the Lego Lord of the Rings theme in Summer 2012. Recreate the epic battle.
Lego 9471 Uruk-hai Army is one of the mid-sized sets in the 2012 Lord of the Rings Lego Range. It extends the larger Battle for Helm's Deep set.
Lego 9470 Shelob Attack's is one of the smaller sets in the 2012 Lego Lord of the Rings Range. This is the set where you'll find the very important Samwise the hobbit.
