Pirate Party Picks, Flags and Decorations

We've just held a joint pirate party for my three year old son and 3 year old nephew. They both love pirates so it was an obvious choice! I had fun making pirate party decorations so I thought I'd share the printables I put together. 

I've also included some pirate party decorations to buy as I know not everyone has time to make the decorations.

Easy Pirate Crafts for Kids

These pirate party picks are great for making pirate-themed party food. We used them to turn mini sausages into little pirate ships. This was a big success with the kids. As they ate the sausages they stuck the picks into other items on their plate. 

Pirate party picks (or cocktail sticks) work well stuck into sandwiches, fruit, cubes of cheese, cake squares, chicken strips and lots of other party foods. 

To assemble:
Print out the flags and cut around each flag. Make two holes on the left hand side of the flag and thread a wooden or plastic cocktail stick through. Stab into a sausage or other piece of party food to make a pirate boat. 

This printable include 8 medium-sized pirate flags per page. We used these as flags on a pirate ship cake and a pirate island cake. In both cases the flags were threaded onto a wooden skewer (for making kebabs). 

We also used this size of flag to make stickers to stick onto pirate birthday gifts using sticky tape. You could also print them onto sticker paper to give out to kids as party favors or to decorate party bags. If you get a white chalk pen you could also use them as party food labels, for example to label the contents of sandwiches. 

This pirate flag printable just has one large pirate flag per page. It can be printed out and used as a wall decoration or as a disposable placemat if children are sitting at a table to eat. 

You could also mount them on a piece of dowel as a pirate craft activity for the kids which makes a party favor to take home. 

This printable is for making pirate ship sails. We used it to cut out a large and a medium sized sail for a pirate ship cake. 

You can also cut it into small red and white striped sails to use as party picks on sausages and other finger foods to make mini pirate boats. 

And it can be used as a craft activity to make a pirate ship or as pirate shirts on pirate paper dolls. Simple but effective. 

Blue pirate stripes are perfect for the Jake and the Neverland Pirates themed party. Bucky the pirate ship has blue stripes on his sails. 

Pirate Red Stripes work well for a Jake and the Neverland Pirates Hook pirate ship for the bad pirates.
