Shelob Attacks Lego 9470 - with Samwise and Gollum

Lego 9470 Shelob Attacks features Shelob the Spider and poor Frodo and Samwise, the hobbits who cross her path. Gollum is there too. 

Shelob Attacks is one of the new Lego Lord of the Rings sets for 2012. And it's an important one for building your minifigure collection. 

Shelob the spider is the central piece in Lego Shelob Attacks. Shelob is built from bricks rather than being molded. 

Shelob is an ancient spider who attacks Frodo and Sam as they enter Cirith Ungol, which means Pass of the Spider. 

Shelob is much bigger than the hobbits and her scale is reflected in this set. 

I'm not a great spider fan and I'm really not keen at the prospect of building this set. My boys love spiders though so they'll certainly want Shelob. I just hope they don't need any help ...

Once Lego Shelob Attacks is available it should be available from the Lego Store and other toy retailers.

The Lego Shelob Attacks set is a good one for minifigures. You get Frodo Baggins, Samwise 'Sam' Gamgee and also Gollum!

This is the only one of the initial sets to feature Sam so you'll need this one to complete the full Fellowship of nine. 

Gollum doesn't appear in any of the other initial sets either. Gollum knows Shelob before this encounter and is rather fond of her.

In the Lord of the Rings Trilogy of books, the Shelob Attacks scene takes place in the second volume The Two Towers.

But in the movie adaptation, Shelob is saved for movie 3, The Return of the King. She's pretty scary whenever she strikes!
