Frank - I was just a mile or so away, down the river, from the village. I walked up there to stand at the memorial, then wandered around to the loch and back. It was incredibly beautiful but, like you, I felt nothing actually preternatural.

sflm - It's funny you should say that. Did you notice that no doors open onto the Avenue of Roses? This was indicative and quite deliberate. All front doors opened into central areas, which were accessed by a single archway apiece.

These are much safer than candles. My uncle, now deceased, was a firefighter and he warned against using candles in the home because he had seen too many fires, started by candles.
