There might be vampires in Bon Temps, but the majority of the residents are human beings. They cook. They eat.
Whether it's one of the Stackhouse ladies baking, or Lafayette frying up burgers in the Merlotte's kitchen, great food is paraded across our screens. These are the home-cooked recipes, which have made the South famous for its hospitality.
Naturally, if you're planning a True Blood party, then the first thing to plan are the dishes. Fortunately there's a whole cookbook devoted to this. True Blood: Eats, Drinks, and Bites from Bon Temps has 85 recipes from which to choose between.
This isn't just any old Southern fare. Author Gianna Sobol has recreated the dishes from some of True Blood's most memorable scenes. She worked with Alan Ball, who created the show, to make certain that they are as authentic as possible.
Chock full of exclusive glossy photographs, both of the dishes and where they featured in the show. Even the contents pages are set out like menus from Merlotte's, Lou Pine's or Fangtasia. Various characters have also 'written' introductions to their favorite food. You want to cook like Adele Stackhouse (Sookie's grandmother), or serve hoecakes like Lettie Thornton (Tara's Momma)? Then you need this cookbook.

I really enjoyed it! Like most vampire stories, there are subtle allusions to other groups in society. This one did it rather cleverly.
This is really interesting. I have not seen True Blood. Looks like I should.
And I'd come to it in another heartbeat, if I was invited and... oh! Are we even on the same continent? Drat!
Thank you. I'm so tempted by so many things here.
I'm halfway through watching season four. Then I've got season five to watch. After that, it's a case of catching a plane to America, then standing on the set looking pointedly at my watch.
How many seasons left?
It's brilliant! Trust me, you'd love it! And please take note of all that you've just seen here. I want one of everything!
You're really obsessed with true blood, aren't you?
